Fastest Greenwich Running Company group run in over 6 months. Two of the other runners were fast and did a slightly longer loop early in the run. I got caught up to them around Greenwich Ave and took off. They said they had hoped to catch up with me, but no one catches me on Greenwich Ave.

Ran with the Waveny group...How fast are they? My HM PR is 2:09. Out of the 16 members who ran the NYC Half this weekend, the times ranged from 1:25-2:07. My GPS was messed up, so I used my time and then average pace from the last two Waveny runs to get the 6.97 miles.

I signed up for a race! The Verrazano Half-Marathon At Shore Road Park, in Brooklyn. It's in about 5 weeks. The description says "this could be the fastest flattest USATF Certified course you ever run. Comprised of one long loop and one short loop in Brooklyn's Shore Road Park, this will be a beautiful half marathon..." At $30, it seems like a bargain!

New route (nice and hilly) and trying to run with water/Nuun as it's getting hotter. Trying to make my longer runs slower and then picking up the pace for my speed/group runs. Hopefully my pace overall picks up.

Felt so good running today, especially with it being mid 50s and a breeze. I did struggle to pass a guy running with a baby stroller, but after a few minutes I was able to pass him. Don't want to feel that kind of defeat again!

Chickpea Curry
It was ok, I think I used more spice than necessary. I used the Kitchen King spice mix and some Sambar powder. I guess more flavor is not always better.

Chickpea (Garbanzo) "Stew" over Couscous
I thought this was pretty good. Light and easy to eat. I used this Sweet And Spicy Anchar Masala (with mustard, chilli powder, etc) that I found at Patel Brothers.

Runs from March 11-March 17, 2012, 30.56 Miles
March 11, 2012
2.66 Miles
25:20 Time
9:31 Pace
It was too nice not to run outside today. More a casual run, I ate a lot of Samoas so I probably couldn't run fast if I tried.

Felt great, good weather. People pushed me tonight. I ran with one shoe the laces not tied and one person from the GRC said they might be able to switch the shoes but the other employee said it looks like its more my achilles was irritated. I do like the shoes.
March 13, 2012
5.09 Miles
51:17 Time

My fastest mile was mile 4, 9:21 pace. It was through a bad section of town. Sadly, it looks like there will be no Holiday Marathon in the Bronx for St. Patty's Day this weekend.

Slow run, as I felt beat from running the last 4 days straight. I even (gasp) did some walking. Yoga tonight, rest day Thursday and then I want to try a speed workout for Friday.

2.66 Miles
26:51 Time
10:06 Pace
I tried some speed workouts, like sprint 30 seconds, walk 30 seconds, then sprint 1 minute up to 4 minutes, though that was more like my 5K pace. Not really precise cause I don't have a useful watch. I feel I am somewhat at a plateau.

Ug, not a good run. In a related note I got one of those "super food" mixes from Whole Foods you can use for Smoothies. The reviews are amazing, people say its great for energy and even people who suffer from MS or were in accidents say they benefit from it.

Alyson's Vegetarian Chili
Fantastic, A+ I didn't use a dutch oven or a slow cooker, however just heating this up on the stove in a frying pan seemed to work. I only used half the beans and tomatoes. I also used about half of the suggested servings of the spices. The cumin, garlic and chili powder gave it a nice flavor, without being too hot or too bland.

A little chilly out (upper 30s) but overall a decent run.

7.13 Miles

10:42 Pace
I am beat. The warmup mile was 9:13. We also did "7's"-5 min marathon pace, 2 min walk, 4 min half marathon, 3 min walk, etc. Friendly bunch.

5.09 Miles
51:48 Time

Someone gave me a "hoot" or something when I was driving by...I hoping it was a hot chick but I am guessing it was an annoying driver/passenger. My Nike's seem to still irritate my right foot, I will try to put padding in them.
March 8, 2012
2.96 Miles
26:42 Time
9:01 Pace
I ran with Chuck and people from his Meetup.com group. One of the worst "runners" was there, the one who really isn't a runner (I only run twice a week!) and seems to easily maintain a faster pace than me...in fairness she is a cyclist who has done some 100 mile races. Very hill route, 146 yard elevation, as opposed to ~80 yards for my 2.66 route.

Felt great. Fastest mile was mile 8, 9:44 pace. Low 30s but the temperature didn't seem to cold. My shoes weren't as bad, as I kept the laces really loose this time.

Pasta Fagiole with Orzo
This would be a nice side dish. Light, not too heavy. The tomatoes blended with the beans had a good taste. Not too spicy with the jalapeno so I think I will add some spices when I eat the leftovers.

I first started wearing NB 1080s in March 2011, almost exclusively, until I got the Nike LunarEclipse, which are more stability and seem more cushioned. It doesn't seem my pace as suffered from 3 weeks off.

Some very fast ladies here. No joke, I was basically the slowest one. Time/Distance is sorta of an estimate because I had problems with my phone losing GPS signal and I set it to pause after 10 seconds. We did some 400s/300s, I don't really know, I tried to see what others were doing and follow.
February 29, 2012
6.61 Miles

My 400th logged run (including races.) Believe it or not, last night I started looking forward to this run. I ran my downtown route which I haven't done in over two months. Some minor irritation with the shoes, but I am hoping it was due to putting on my sock funny, as it really only affected my right foot.

On Conan O'Brien on Monday, Artie Lange was a guest. He was talking about difficulties recovering from heroin with his personal trainer, and he how missed the high he got. The personal trainer suggested he pick up running. Artie said the high wasn't the same.
