Creamy-Spicy Seitan with Coconut Quinoa

I thought it was decent. I was hoping it would be a little more creamier than it was. The spices were nice, some flavor but nothing too spicy. The raisins definitely helped the taste.

2.66 Mile Recovery Run

2.66 Miles
29:40 Time
11:09 Pace

Recovery run.  According to CardioTrainer, I had the exact same pace for miles 1 and 2!  I don't think I have ever seen that.  I ran 189.63 miles in July (prior record was 171.19 in February.)  I'll probably try to cut back a bit in August.

18.69 Mile Long Run

18.69 Miles
3:34:37 Time
11:29 Pace

Longest non race run in awhile and it went quite well.  The time includes two stops at convenience stores and times I stretched.  CardioTrainer had total climb as .4 miles (I love hills) and in fairness, 18.10 miles/11:50 pace (MapQuest had 18.69 miles).  I also reached 1000 miles for the year!  For fuel, about 2.5 20oz bottles of water, 1.5 16.9oz bottles of Gatorade and 2 packs of PowerBar energy blasts.

5.09 Mile Run

5.09 Miles
48:49 Time
9:34 Pace

Felt good today, nice and misty out.  I sometimes wonder if I am running too many 'junk miles' but one site says its a myth.  I guess I do vary distance and pace to an extent.

7.38 Mile Run

7.38 Miles
1:18:33 Time
10:39 Pace

I am getting more consistent atleast, 6/7 miles were done between 10:11 and 10:48 pace.  One was 11:24 but I stopped for Gatorade.

8.2 Mile Hill Run

8.2 Miles
1:30:52 Time
11:05 Pace

Nice and easy pace, but it still got a little tough at the end and I stopped for some Gatorade.  Somewhat like the last time I tried this route.  Also got caught in the rain for a bit.

6.13 Mile Running Store Group Run

This should have been posted on Monday.

6.13 Miles
1:03:03 Time
10:17 Pace

Nice and cool with a mild rain and I did an extra mile at a cool down pace.  Oddly, the last mile at 11:17 seemed a little harder than mile 5 at 9:27.

12.30 Mile Long Run

12.30 Miles
2:19:47 Time
11:22 Pace

Much cooler than yesterday.  I stayed local, basically ran Cove Rd and East Main St.  Both roads had plenty of convenience stores in case it got really hot and I needed to get more fuel.  I took a 24 oz water and some energy chews and stopped once to buy a 16 oz Gatorade.  Legs were a bit tired at the end.

7.28 Mile Hot Run

7.28 Miles
1:35:34 Time
13:08 Pace

When I first started running, before I knew what C25K was, I went to Cove Beach, I ran a bit, walked a bit, and repeated.  Today I did the same thing, but it was due to the heat.  I guess I can appreciate crappy conditions because it will make me stronger.  I got new shoes, the New Balance 1080 which I had before.  The other pair had close to 600 miles on them.

This photo was taken when I wasn't holding my phone steady I guess.

Indian Vegetable Stew

Pretty good.  Not too spicy but with all the spices it does have a lot of flavor.  I used sweet potatoes and some of the Ommegang beer for extra taste.  I wish I added tofu.  With all spices the tofu would have absorbed the recipe probably would have been even better.

Seitan - Mushroom Stroganoff

I attended a Whole Foods "Cooking With Beer" demo and unfortunately the dish they made had meat in it.  They suggested if I wanted to do a vegetarian/light dish to use Ommegang Abbey Ale.  By itself it was an intense drink with a lot of flavor.  I did some searching for recipes I could make with beer and I decided to make this.  I was hoping for a stirfry recipe but I couldn't find anything and I didn't want to do a random recipe and just add beer.  I thought the Westsoy Seitan had a funny taste to it.  Not a bad taste, just a little tangy.  Probably a stronger taste than the beer.  I felt it was above 'so so' but not quite a 'good' recipe.

7.38 Mile Run

7.38 Miles
1:18:50 Time
10:41 Pace

Felt a little better than yesterday and took a 24 oz water bottle with me. Going to do some yoga instead of running Thursday.

8.2 Mile Hill Run

8.2 Miles
1:30:20 Time
11:02 Pace

Nice and easy, with a pinch of difficulty near the end.  Surprisingly consistent pacewise, the splits for the last 4 miles ranged from 10:58 to 11:23 (overall from 10:20 to 11:23.)

2.66 Mile Speedwork

2.66 Miles
20:30 Time
7:47 Pace

I decided not to go to the running group cause of thunder/rain but of course that cleared up.  Since I rested on Sunday, I figured I might as well try a speed workout.  CardioTrainer had 2.58 miles and MapQuest (which I use) had 2.66 miles, but with my time of 20:39 that either is 7:59 pace or 7:45 pace.  My splits were 7:47, 7:57...pretty consistent.

This picture is old but I was running too fast to take another one.

15.31 Mile Long Run

15.31 Miles
2:50:49 Time
11:09 Pace

Same hilly route I ran 2 weeks ago, but this time I ran it in 2:50:49/11:09 pace as opposed to 3:05:13/12:06 pace.  I fueled a lot better.  During the first 2/3 of the run I had two gels, 2 Gatorade Primes and a 24 oz water and last 1/3 most of a 32 oz Gatorade.  I finished strong, the last mile was run at a 10:13 pace.

6.61 Mile Downtown Run

6.61 Miles
1:05:49 Time
9:57 Pace

The weather was cool and the running went well.  I guess the day off helped.  I wore some new running gear I got at a big sale, including a pair of Nike Dri Fit shorts I got for $10 and socks I got for $5.

Rich No-Cream Wild Mushroom Pasta

Decent recipe.  I used Ronzoni Garden Delight Penne Rigate for the pasta.  For the mushrooms I bought a pack of baby bella, shitake and oyster.  Since I didn't have enough white wine I used some marsala.  I didn't use the butter.  Could have been better as I think the wines were somewhat old, but it was a nice light meal.  Would be good at BBQ.  I might try this again.

7.52 Mile Run With Tom

7.52 Miles
1:28:42 Time
11:48 Pace

I ran with my friend Tom, who isn't a big runner or so I thought.  I wasn't running with him the whole time, but despite his basketball shoes he wore he was ahead of me most of the time, though he took more walking breaks than I did.  First time in awhile I actually ran in Cove Park, despite the fact I live so close.

7.38 Mile Run

7.38 Miles
1:29:21 Time
12:06 Pace

How do the Badwater runners do it?  I am now always going to take cash with me in case I need to stop and buy more water/Gatorade.

5.3 Mile Running Store Group Run

5.3 Miles
50:34 Time
9:32 Pace

I made the mistake of trying to keep up with the faster runners. It didn't last. My splits were 8:45, 9:07, 10:09, 10:40, 10:21. Still decent overall. My 250th logged run as well.

11.51 Mile Long Run

This should have been posted Saturday.

11.51 Miles
2:07:37 Time
11:05 Pace

The seam on my draw string bag that I use for water/gels broke and I didn't realize it. I lost $5, 2 8oz waters, 1 Gatorade prime, 1 gel but luckily my keys and another gel were still in the bag when I realized it. I should mention it I noticed this while standing in a deli, sweating holding a 16.9 oz Gatorade looking for the $5. Luckily the guy said I could return to pay for the Gatorade. I felt great, happy with this pace.

11.39 Mile Long Run

11.39 Miles
2:17:08 Time
12:06 Pace

I was feeling great until the last two miles. I guess I bonked, I walked them at 15:06, 16:47 pace, I guess I needed more fuel or maybe it was too much drinking at Alive @ Five. I suppose on the bright side I can say I had a great cool down. Lastly, I haven't done this route in like 3 months, I incorrectly thought it was around 10 miles.

5.09 Mile Run

5.09 Miles
50:23 Time
9:54 Pace

Nice and cool...I had to wait at times for traffic but decent effort. I think I saw the same woman running in almost the same spot I saw her running yesterday.

7,38 Mile Run

7.38 Miles
1:17:44 Time
10:32 Pace

Not the greatest pace, but considering the heat I am ok with this.

8.2 Mile Hill Run

8.2 Miles
1:33:17 Time
11:23 Pace

Felt it took a little while longer than usual to get warmed up and then it got hot during the end of the run.  I struggled to keep moving at the end.

Listened to Heaviness - Self Titled (most of it).

I really like running up hills.

Simple Red Hot Coconut Curry

I'd give this an A, but not an A+.  Good as a spicy dish but there are dishes that have more flavor.  Still great as a spicy dish, don't get me wrong.
I used
12 oz House Foods' Cajun Tofu
5 TBSPs Patak's Extra Hot Curry Paste
2 TBSPs curry powder

Need I say more?

15.31 Mile Long Run

15.31 Miles
3:05:14 Time
12:06 Pace

Longest run in awhile.  Sort of crashed/bonked during the last few miles.  I had to walk now and then, maybe 20% walking.
I picked a hilly route, CardioTrainer has the total climb as .3 miles, but I was still hoping for sub 12 min pace overall.
Fuel-1 gel/Gatorade Prime/8oz water 1 hour into the run, same thing 40 min later and then 20 minutes after I stopped at a store to buy a 16oz Gatorade which I drank in 20 minutes.
Listened to-The Church-Starfish (Most of it), E-A Man Called E and Live-Throwing Copper.

2.66 Mile Speedwork

2.66 Miles
20:52 Time
7:51 Pace

I put the speed in speedwork.  Felt pretty crappy running.  The fun part came when I stopped running.  Distance based on MapQuest, CardioTrainer had issues with the GPS.
